Map of Clontarf

See our large, interactive Map of Clontarf for more detail, including satellite views of Clontarf.

Map of Clontarf, North Dublin, adjacent to Dollymount and Raheny.

Clontarf (Cluain Tarbh in Irish) is an area north of Dublin city, Ireland. It is most famous for the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 where Brian Boru defeated the Viking invaders. The Battle of Clontarf is seen as marking an end to the Irish-Viking Wars.

It had one of the most magnificent open air sea swimming pools many years back. It unfortunately like many things fell into disrepair. It has many sporting facilities including Rugby, Cricket, Soccer & GAA clubs. Clontarf was the venue for the final of the 2005 ICC Trophy cricket tournament. Clontarf is about 15 minutes of a drive from Dublin city.

Saint Anne's Park lies between Clontarf and Raheny. The Bull Island is connected to Clontarf by the relatively well known woden bridge.

When Erwin Schrödinger moved to Dublin he lived in Clontarf on Kincora Road.

Clontarf Castle
I as at a wedding in Clontarf Castle a while back. I have to say the setting was magnificent - it's rare to find such a spectacular venue so near to the city centre.

Unfortunately the meal was quite disappointing - more work canteen than medieval banquet. But when the pints started to kick in we didn't mind!
