Donnybrook, DublinMap of DonnybrookSee our large, interactive Map of Donnybrook for more detail, including satellite views of Donnybrook. Map of Donnybrook, centered on Donnybrook Road. Donnybrook (Irish Domhnach Broc, meaning Church of [Saint] Broc) is a district of Dublin, Ireland. It is situated on the southside of the city, in the Dublin 4 postal district. Donnybrook is home to the Irish state broadcaster RTÉ. It was once the location of Donnybrook Fair, a horse fair which was notorious for drunkenness and violent disorder. This gave rise to the word donnybrook, meaning a brawl or fracas. These days, there is little trace of this disreputable past, and Donnybrook is one of the wealthiest suburbs of Dublin. The only reminder of this aspect of its history is a supermarket called Donnybrook Fair on the main street. Donnybrook is also the spiritual home of rugby in Leinster. Irish professional rugby team Leinster play their home games in Donnybrook rugby ground and Kiely's pub in Donnybrook village is a traditional social point for rugby types.
